For a while now I have been playing around with a new look for Dollie Darlings and after many months I feel that I have come up with a design that I am happy with that best represents Dollie. I'm hoping as time goes on I will make it look more colourful and professional.

She is my Dollie and I have presented her in a minature portrait, I'm by no means the greatest artist in the world but during my art college days this is the face that was in all my costume porfolios and took me though my whole HND course. I hope that you enjoy the many transitions Dollie will go through as time goes on.

It is all very exciting and I have so many ideas to get my little business venture up and running, I know it has been very slow of late but I have been doing other bits of sewing for people and have found it very hard to focus my time on Dollie. At this end of May I will have more time to devote to it and I can not wait.

So here it is my own little business Dollie Darlings, I'm sure all the trials and tribulations of getting this venture started will be worth it.

Dollie Brooches

Hello all. A little post to show you my new line in Dollie Darling accessories Dollie Brooches. They are made in the same way that I do my dolls, I leave the back plain just adding some pretty fabric and brooch pin so it can lay flat when worn.

Accessories and Rita

For a while now I have been toying with the idea of doing accessories as a sideline alone with my dolls.

I am starting with a few small items just to see how they go but I am hoping to move on to other items that have a vintage feel to them. I go to quite a few vintage fairs and pick up so many items such as buttons, bits of fabrics and other accessories. So keep an eye out for new additions.

I have also been so busy to write up about my new doll Rita - I have been doing a few new designs and I feel happy with how Dollie looks at this moment, she has come along way since I did my first one.
Rita is a real glamourous doll, her soft blonde hair and blue eyes look beautiful with her long silk dress wrapped with a fur shawl and set off with her little hat.

Sylvia and the Circus show

Hi everyone so sorry I haven't published a post for a while been very very busy plus been a little poorly but feeling much better now.

 

I am super excited about my new line in dolls. For a while now I have been pondering whether to do a theme for my dolls. I was recently looking at some beautiful costumes for circus and other shows. So as you have most probably guessed I have decided on this subject area.

 

 

My first doll, Sylvia, is a performer she is very adventurous when it comes to her costumes and loves mixing different styles together.

I plan to do lots of little things to follow my idea and will post them as soon as they are finished.

There are many inspirations to find in this area and one of the most exciting parts is putting together ideas and resourcing the materials.

This is only a short post just to say I have finally got around to putting my dolls up for sale. I have put three in my shop for the moment but as always I am working on more as we speak. What an amazing week I have had not only trying to get my head around all this technical stuff but also making my dolls.

I want to say a BIG thank you to everyones lovely comments about my dollies, it's so nice to hear positive feedback already.

At this moment I am doing a lot of experimental work with my dolls clothes. As I have said my background is in theatrical costume and I have a huge passion for historical costume especially from 1920's onwards. I love the glitz and glamour of these eras and have always enjoyed making costumes from these times as there is always so much attention to detail.

Experimenting is always fun and my first 3 dolls have defiantly been alot of fun to produce. I am getting things ready to begin selling my dolls, as soon as I have it all set up I will post it on my blog.

Hello one and all

Writing a blog is all very new for me but very exciting aswell. Hopefully my blog will be a wonderful release for all my inspiration that has led me on my journey over the past 10 years in costume design and of course making art dolls.

I always wanted to do Theatrical Make-up, loved the idea of allowing your imagination to be expressed by make-up and prosthetics, I took a course in Theatrical Make-up & Costume. My first lesson in costume I was hooked, I specialized in it and did my final major in menswear. Since then I haven't looked back, it was the best decision I ever made.

I have always wanted to make art dolls to express my need for costume and the history behind it. I am influenced from modern day style icons to classic Hollywood.

This is the story of the Dollie Darlings ........
